Tasting notes La Hechicera Serie Experimental nº1

Rhum (70 cl.).

La Hechicera Serie Experimental nº1 is a rum that presents itself with a dark and deep amber hue, already hinting at its richness and complexity. On the nose, it unfolds intense aromas where ripe tropical fruits coexist with toasted pineapple, banana, and a walnut undertone that imparts warmth and roundness. On the palate, it is broad and unctuous, with nuances of prune and leather interwoven with a delicate vinous character from the moscatel, adding depth and personality. The journey is enveloping, with a texture that glides elegantly, leaving a balanced sensation between robustness and refinement. The finish is persistent and suggestive, with the sweet and mature echo of fruit and wood in harmony.

About La Hechicera Serie Experimental nº1

What transpires when time, chance, and curiosity decide to converge within a single barrel? Occasionally, the unforeseen gives rise to something that cannot be planned, only uncovered. This experimental series from La Hechicera originates from a serendipitous discovery that, over the years, evolved into a unique expression where tradition and intuition coexist effortlessly.

After twelve years in the rum industry, Mr. Miguel Riascos decided to fill sixteen barrels with his favourite vino moscatel and allowed time to take its course… until the memory of that gesture faded into oblivion. Years later, during a routine inventory, his son Miguel Riascos Jr. stumbled upon those barrels and found within them a wine transformed by time, profound and astonishing, with notes of walnut, plum, and leather. This discovery not only revived a forgotten story but also reignited it: he decided to empty the barrels, refill them with ron La Hechicera, and let the same environment continue the dialogue initiated years before, now from a different perspective. Thus was born the ron colombiano La Hechicera Serie Experimental nº1.

Behind this process lies a family that perceives time as an ally and crafting as an act of listening rather than imposition. At La Hechicera, minimal intervention is not a technique but a form of respect for what transpires within the barrel, where wood, climate, and patience shape nuances that are not forced but emerge naturally. This experimental series embodies that philosophy and takes it a step further, allowing each decision to retain the imprint of spontaneity and the unrepeatable.

La Hechicera Serie Experimental nº1 presents itself with an enveloping texture and a robust yet balanced character, where the influence of the barrels previously steeped in vino moscatel adds a subtle and elegant aromatic dimension. It is a ron that invites one to pause and observe its unfolding, ideal for accompanying tranquil moments, unhurried conversations, or evenings where time seems to dissolve. An expression that does not seek to be fully explained, but simply experienced, like those discoveries that arrive when least expected and, precisely for that reason, endure.
