About Herrigoia

Herrigoia is a red wine produced in the DOCa Rioja by Mozo wines in Lanciego, Alava.

Mozo Wines is a family-run winery with a history spanning 40 years. The third generation, Itxaso, Gorka, and the youngest, Unai, are currently at the helm of the enterprise. These individuals, who were previously engaged in different sectors, returned to their roots to honour the valuable legacy they inherited in the form of family-owned vineyards.

The 9 hectares of vineyards are scattered throughout the Rioja Alavesa locality of Lanciego, divided into 18 distinct micro-plots, with some of the vines being over 70 years old.

The grapes used to produce this Herrigoia come from 10 micro-plots, with the varieties being 85% Tempranillo and the remainder Viura and Malvasía. The wine undergoes fermentation in large concrete vats with its own yeasts, where it undergoes carbonic maceration and is subsequently aged.
