About Domaine Matrot Maranges

Five generations have passed through Domaine Matrot. It all began when Joseph Matrot moved into his wife Marguerite’s family home in Meursault, in the heart of the Cote de Beaune (Burgundy), and they began to invest and dedicate themselves to the estate until it became the great property it is today. Today, the fifth generation Matrot, sisters Adèle and Elsa Matrot, run the winery and are responsible for the quality of the 23 hectares of vineyards, the vinification process, the aging of the wines and sales.

One of their productions is Domaine Matrot Maranges Vieilles Vignes. Working in the southernmost denomination of the Côte de Beaune, AOC Maranges, this wine is made from Pinot Noir vines that are over 30 years old and planted on steep slopes on marly limestone soils. The whole vineyard has been cultivated in a respectful way since 1976 and their maintenance techniques and care for the soil and plant produce a grape of great fruity purity and with the character of the terroir. Once the fruit has been harvested and selected, it is destemmed and crushed to macerate and ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 10% of which are new oak.

Domaine Matrot Maranges Vieilles Vignes is a Pinot Noir that is full of fruit and character from the southernmost denomination of the Côte de Beaune. A wine that is able to convey with elegance and good taste the magic hidden in these excellent vineyards.

2017

Domaine Matrot Maranges Vieilles Vignes 2017 is a smooth red wine with initial fresh fragrances of red fruit, followed by herbal notes, hints of orange zest and touches of crushed stone. The palate is rich, fruity and tasty. A light-bodied wine with bright acidity, pronounced tannins and a concentrated finish of red fruits and spicy notes.
