About Conde de Valdemar Crianza

Conde de Valdemar Crianza is a red wine made by Valdemar with the Tempranillo and Graciano varieties, all grown in the winery’s own vineyards spread across the different areas of the D.O.Ca. Rioja.

In 1889 the first generation of Conde de Valdemar were already cultivating their own vineyards in Oyón (Rioja Alta), where the family is from. Then in the 80s, Jesús Martínez Bujanda, 4th generation, decided to set up Bodegas Valdemar to produce unique wines with a classic style like the first barrel-fermented white and the first single-variety Maturana and Tempranillo Blanco wines. Now, the 5th generation have set up shop in the US, becoming the first non-US winery established in Wall Walla (Washington).

Faithful to the philosophy of producing wines exclusively with their own vineyards, Conde de Valdemar Crianza comes from vineyards spread across the three sub-zones of the Denominación de Origen Rioja. Specifically, from the vineyards planted in Oyón, Logroño and Ausejo. They use traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out at the optimum point of ripeness.

Once in the winery, the Conde de Valdemar Crianza grapes are carefully vinified. For this, the bunches ferment in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature. This red wine is then allowed to rest in the storage area for 15 months in American oak barrels.

Conde de Valdemar Crianza is a 100% Rioja red wine with a balanced combination of the grape’s fruit notes and the flavours it picks up from the barrel. A classic wine with a modern touch.
