About Ramilo Nativas Tinto

When we say that someone "lives like a king", we are referring to a life of luxury, free of haste and worries. And it is not a random expression; for centuries, those who truly lived like kings were the monarchs themselves. And naturally, they knew how to surround themselves with the finest things.

Colares, north of Lisbon (Portugal), was for generations the favoured summer retreat of Portuguese royalty and nobility. Castles, palaces, the pure Atlantic air, and untamed nature transformed this region into a true paradise reserved for the select few.

In these same lands where monarchs once hunted, Pedro and Nuno Ramilo, the fourth generation of winemakers, decided to return to their roots and revive an almost forgotten heritage. Ancient vineyards with native varieties that were on the brink of disappearing.

Thus, Ramilo was born, a project deeply connected to the territory and its traditions with the aim of producing authentic, sustainable wines that speak of their origin. Ramilo Nativas Tinto is a clear example of this.

Made with castelão, a typical red variety of the region, Ramilo Nativas Tinto is cultivated using biodynamic treatments on clay-limestone soils marked by the proximity of the Atlantic. The grapes are hand-harvested, carefully, during the cool mornings. They are then foot-trodden in traditional stone lagares, as was done centuries ago, and ferment spontaneously, without added yeasts. After a long and respectful maceration, the wine rests for 15 months in stainless steel tanks, thus preserving its freshness, its fruity character, and the vibrant acidity that defines Atlantic wines.

Honest, refined, and full of life, Ramilo Nativas Tinto is a tribute to a noble land and to those who preserve its identity. A wine that has nothing to envy in royal pleasures. Because in the end, true luxury is found in the authentic, in what has soul and roots.
