About Oddero Dolcetto d’Alba

Oddero Dolcetto d'Alba is a monovarietal Dolcetto wine from the DOC Dolcetto d'Alba, produced by Poderi e Cantine Oddero.

Poderi e Cantine Oddero is a family winery founded in 1878 and located in the Langhe, Piedmont. It is a historic name among the producers in Barolo, and is currently still in the hands of the same family. They own 35 hectares of vineyards and work based on traditional know-how and using new production techniques to produce high quality grapes and wines.

The vineyards for Oddero Dolcetto d'Alba are located in Castiglione Falletto and Torre de la Morra, some 300 metres above sea level, and one is south-facing and the other faces southeast. The plantation density is approximately 4,700 plants per hectare, and some are about 30 years old while others are from 40 to 50 years old. They produce around 8,000 kg/ha, and between the two they extend over a total area of 1.2 hectares.

Oddero Dolcetto d'Alba is harvested manually to perform an initial selection of bunches while still in the field. Once in the cellar, it ferments for 12 days in stainless steel tanks and then undergoes malolactic fermentation. The wine ages in the steel tanks until the following spring and goes on sale at the beginning of summer, at its optimum point. Only some 10,000 bottles are produced.

Oddero Dolcetto d'Alba is a fresh and pleasant monovarietal red from Dolcetto.

2020

Oddero Dolcetto d’Alba 2020 is a rather dry red wine, contrary to what the name might suggest. It offers aromas of fresh red fruits and floral nuances. A young red wine with a slightly bitter aftertaste, which gives it a special character.
2018 Oddero Dolcetto d'Alba 2018 is a ruby-red wine with violet reflections. It has a vinous aroma with fruity touches. On the palate it is dry, has a good body and ends with a pleasantly bitter touch.
