Luis Seabra Granito Cru is a barrel-aged white wine made with the Albariño variety by Luis Seabra in Vinho Verde, in the Minho region (Portugal).
After working for a decade at Niepoort, one of Portugal's most prestigious wineries, Luis Seabra decided to set up his own more personal project. A winery that breaks with preconceived ideas and opts for local varieties and the most respectful vinification methods. As a result, they produce wines with the authenticity of the region.
Luis Seabra Granito Cru comes from vineyards located in Melgaço, in the cooler sub-region of the Duero, in Vinho Verde. These vines are planted in slate soils, at an altitude of 50-150 metres above sea level and under the influence of the Atlantic breeze. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the Luis Seabra Granito Cru grapes are selected and pressed and the resulting must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in 1000 and 2000 litre foudres, in contact with the lees and without adding sulphur.
Under the name Cru (raw in Portuguese), Luis Seabra Granito Cru reveals the characteristics of a great vineyard in the most “raw” way. Uncovered and showcasing the virtues of a gran cru with slate soils.
