About La Vieille Ferme Rosé

Some wineries, because of their status, quality and history, need no introduction. The Primum Familiae Vini (PFV) was set up with the aim of setting apart the most prestigious family wineries in the world. This association brings together the 12 most prominent wine stories in the world, including the British Symington Family Estates, the Spanish Vega Sicilia and Bodegas Torres, the Italian Marchesi Antinori and Tenuta San Guido and the French Château Mouton Rothschild and Famille Perin. The latter dates back to 1909 when Pierre Tramier acquired special set of buildings in the commune of Châteauneuf du Pape. Since then, five generations have worked to maintain the tradition and values that accompany the culture of wine. This way of working has earned them a place among the very best and has allowed them to break into other denominations like Côtes de Provence (Château Miraval), Côtes du Rhône (Famille Perrin-Les Crus), Gigondas (Domaine du Clos des Tourelles), Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph (Domaine & Maison Les Alexandrins) and Ventoux (La Vieille Ferme). The latter, La Vieille Ferme, was set up as part of the Perrin family’s quest to find the best terroirs to make fruity, gourmet wines. They found their location in a quiet and sunny region in the south of the Rhône Valley (France) and La Vieille Ferme Rosé is proof of that.

Part of the AOC Ventoux, La Vieille Ferme Rosé comes from Garnacha Tinta, Cinsault and Syrah vineyards planted on gently sloping hillsides with Mediterranean red soils, calcareous debris and round ancient alluvium stones. The vines are cultivated using sustainable viticulture without fertilisers, pesticides or any other chemical products and the work is carried out manually and with ploughing. All these factors result in low, high-quality yields, which in the winery turns into freshness and delicacy through the traditional drawing off method. After the must has been produced, this technique involves part of the must being drawn off or separated from the solids using gravity. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and the wine is bottled after clarification.

All of this work eventually becomes La Vieille Ferme Rosé, a great wine that expresses the essence of the terroir it comes from and, endorsed by Famille Perin, this is certainly a trendy wine.
