Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894 2019 unfurls in the glass with the grace of a garden in the throes of spring, presenting a spectrum of scents where white blossoms are preeminent, accompanied by a zesty hint of citrus, as if gifting us with the fragrance of freshly sliced lemons and oranges. On the palate, its opulent and velvety texture glides effortlessly, unveiling a body that is both delicate and robust. About Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894

Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894 is a white wine made from Viura plus a smidgeon of Malvasía. A creation that the Palacio Family produces carefully in its winery in the D.O.Ca Rioja.

More than 120 years of winemaking tradition allows Grupo Bodegas Palacio to be able to grow unique wines of diverse origin. Wineries located in prestigious international denominations such as Ribera, Toro, Rueda and Rioja that confirm their excellent reputation. This is the case of Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894, a white wine made in the winery that the group runs in the heart of the prestigious Rioja Alavesa.

Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894 begins life at the foot of Laguardia, the wine region par excellence in the D.O.Ca Rioja, which is characterised by the good conditions that the climate and soil offer for the vine; a value that Roberto Rodríguez, the winery’s, oenologist, has been able to enhance in vines that are 70 to 85 years old located at an altitude of 600 metres obtaining small but high quality productions.

In the winery, an independent vinification process is carried out for each variety. All the alcoholic fermentation of Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894 is carried out in French oak barrels at 16ºC for about two weeks. In addition, in order to extract the maximum aromatic power of the Viura variety, it is macerated for a whole day with the skins. It is aged on fine lees for 7 months in used high quality French oak barrels.

Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894 is a barrel-fermented white wine whose passage through the cask intensifies the aromatic qualities of the Viura and the sweet nuances of the Malvasía.

Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894 2016 is an exemplary choice for those who eschew the overbearing influence of oak. It presents a bold bouquet, redolent with nuances of pear and peach. Upon tasting, it evokes the essence of ripe pear, delivering a palate that is both silky and pliant. The finish is extensive and chalky. 
2015 Cosme Palacio Blanco 1894 2015 is a white wine that offers white flowers and citrus fruit on the nose. In addition, due to its ageing, aromas of cedar and undergrowth can be detected. On the palate it offers sweet sensations, and brings freshness and vividness.
