Bumbu XO is an ultra-aged rum with a smooth, rich, and complex profile, offering an enveloping texture and an elegance that is immediately apparent. On the nose and palate, layers of deep caramel, toasted oak, and vanilla unfold, akin to warm wood that has patiently awaited its moment. Gradually, livelier nuances of orange zest and gentle spices emerge, with a slightly spicy note that adds tension and character. In the background, a hint of coffee and mature sweetness emerges, prolonging the sensation, leaving a silky trace, like a conversation lingering at the table when it seems everything has already been said.

About Bumbu XO

In the Caribbean, rum is not merely a drink; it is almost a way of narrating one's origins without the need for maps. Barbados, in particular, offers something unique: a mineral tranquillity, with water slowly filtered through limestone, and sugarcane that flourishes with a gentleness bestowed only by the climate. From this arises a method of crafting rum that seeks not to draw attention, but to linger.
 
Bumbu XO (Extra Old) is an extra-aged rum that does not rush in. Initially, a warm sensation emerges, reminiscent of dark caramel and wood patiently worked over time, followed by the unveiling of more delicate layers: vanilla, dried orange, spices that evoke long after-dinner conversations and coffees that never quite conclude. It possesses an air of serious rum, yet without rigidity; more akin to someone who has travelled extensively and no longer needs to prove it.
 
Bumbu XO has matured in bourbon and ex-sherry oak barrels. This edition is distilled and aged in Panama, and this is evident in the way it unfurls across the palate, leaving a gentle, almost melodic impression. It is one of those rums that do not demand mixing, although they could allow it; yet when enjoyed alone, they seem to offer more conversation than one might have anticipated.
 
And there is a detail that complements everything else: the bottle. Weighty, with a metallic "X" that does not seek to shine, and a cork that emits a small ritualistic sound each time it is opened. It is not a grand gesture, but one that is remembered.
