About Ventisquero Vertice
Ventisquero Vertice is a wood-aged red wine made by Viña Ventisquero with the Carmenère and Syrah varieties in the D.O. Colchagua, in Chile’s Central Valley.
The Viña Ventisquero winery is young but well prepared, and this is clear to see in each of their wines. With land in the Apalta Valley, Maipo Valley and Casablanca Valley, founder Felipe Tosso and his team extensively study the different types of soils to produce unusual and unique wines that are well thought of around the world.
Ventisquero Vertice comes from vineyards in Apalta, in the Colchagua Valley at an altitude of 400 to 470 metres above sea level. These are Carmenère vines planted on clay soils and Syrah vines planted on granite soils. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture, respecting the environment at all times, and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, Ventisquero Vertice undergoes a pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature and then the must ferments in small stainless steel tanks and open tanks. Finally, the wine ages in new, 2 and 3 year old French oak barrels for 22 months.
Ventisquero Vertice came to be when two visionary winemakers met: Felipe Tosso, a Chilean winemaker from Viña Ventisquera and John Duval, an Australian winemaker from Penfolds. A successful blend where the Carmenère and Syrah varieties complement each other to perfection.
2017 |
Ventisquero Vertice 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of black fruits combined with spicy notes and moist earth. On the palate it is voluptuous, silky and very balanced. This wine has a firm structure with fine tannins and medium-high acidity. The finish is long and persistent with a graphite background.
