About Ukan

UKAN Winery is the new project of the youngest generation of the Eguren family. Its creator, Koldo Eguren, aims to encapsulate the landscape of Rioja Alavesa in each of its bottles. To achieve this, he blends his contemporary vision with the teachings inherited from his parents and grandparents. It's a small winery that produces limited quantities in a completely artisanal way, paying attention to even the smallest detail.

UKAN is the iconic wine of the winery. It's the result of a meticulous selection of vineyards, giving rise to three old Tempranillo vineyards on clay-limestone soil. These three vineyards are located in Laguardia and are cultivated sustainably in bush vines. In the winery, the UKAN grapes are vinified separately and ferment with native yeasts in truncated cone-shaped oak vats, with 30% of whole clusters. Afterward, the different parcels are blended and aged in French oak barrels for approximately 15 months.

As the flagship wine of the 5th generation's new project in the Eguren family, UKAN embodies all the elements of great Rioja wines. It presents itself as harmonious, complex, full of nuances, and with great aging potential. Pure Rioja Alavesa in every bottle.

2018

Ukan 2018 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruit, floral notes and spicy touches. On the palate it is dense, fresh and elegant. A wine with polished tannins, lively acidity and a long and lasting finish.
