About Sierra de Toloño Rosado

From the heights of the Sierra de Toloño, where the vistas encompass the verdant vineyards stretching along the Ebro and meet the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra de La Demanda, emerges a wine that encapsulates the pure essence of this unique corner of the DOCa. Rioja: Sierra de Toloño Rosado. A wine that embodies the dedication of Sandra Bravo, a winemaker with a philosophy deeply rooted in patience and respect for nature. Her passion for wine is not only evident in the creation of this vibrant and flavoursome rosé but also in a personal and professional journey that has led her to be acknowledged by the esteemed critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin as the best young winemaker in his Rioja report of 2019.
 
Sandra Bravo, at the helm of the bodega Sierra de Toloño, tends her vineyards in Villabuena de Álava, a village in Rioja Alavesa surrounded by rockroses and holm oaks, at an altitude of 650 metres. After seven years managing vineyards in Priorat and enriching her expertise in viticultural regions such as Chianti and California, Sandra arrived in Rioja to establish her own venture. Here, in the cooler plots of the sierra, where calcareous sandstone and clay soils dominate, the tempranillo and garnacha varieties are cultivated in an organic and biodynamic manner, embracing the philosophy of "living without haste" that she learned from the people of Villabuena. The grapes are harvested with care and respect, and the wine ferments spontaneously in barrels, where it matures on its lees, acquiring depth and complexity.
 
The result is a fresh and mineral rosé wine, which reveals the distinctive characteristics of high-altitude vineyards and unfolds a delicate yet powerful texture, with a sweet touch that invites further exploration.
