About Palazzo Rosso di Montalcino Riserva
Retirement is an exceptionally distinctive phase of life, filled with transformation and opportunities to embark on new explorations. For many, it marks the chance to reconnect with their roots and discover novel ways to savor life amidst a familiar and genuine setting. Such was the case for Cosimo and Antonietta, two Italians who, after dedicating over three decades of their working lives in England and Scotland, always harbored a deep-seated desire to return to their beloved homeland of Italy upon retirement. During one of their family visits, they chanced upon Montalcino, in the Tuscany, a captivating medieval town that instantly stole their hearts. It was at that moment they knew a new chapter awaited them there. Since then, the Loia Palazzo family has perpetuated three generations of winemaking that masterfully blends tradition with innovation, leaving an indelible imprint on the region's vinicultural legacy.
As a testament to their dedication, they present Palazzo Rosso di Montalcino Riserva. This red wine, crafted from Tuscany's quintessential grape variety sangiovese, hails from 4 hectares of vineyards planted in granitic soils, enriched with fertile silt and limestone. Cultivated organically and hand-harvested at the peak of ripeness, the fermentation process occurs in stainless steel tanks for 35/45 hours, followed by a maceration period of approximately 18-20 days. Subsequently, the wine matures in oak barrels for 12-15 months and undergoes a further refinement in the bottle for 6-8 months prior to its release to the market.
Rich and fortified, Palazzo Rosso di Montalcino Riserva is a red wine that boasts the complexity and robustness of a brunello di Montalcino, yet simultaneously retains the youthfulness and vitality of a rosso di Montalcino. A wine that signifies a defining moment in the life of the Loia Palazzo family.
