About Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir

Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir is an organic, barrel-aged red wine made in New Zealand by the Neudorf winery with the Pinot Noir red variety.

The Neudorf winery is part of “the family of twelve”, a group created by the first 12 winemaking projects in New Zealand in 1978 when there was hardly any winemaking activity. All of this work gave Neudorf, an Indian, an understanding of how the varieties behave in the southern hemisphere and how to express this in their wines.

Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir comes from vines planted on slopes with deep clay soils and cultivated using organic agriculture without any chemical products. This area enjoys a mild climate with moderate temperatures and rainfall. The grapes are harvested by hand and immediately refrigerated and taken to the winery.

Once there, the Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir grapes are sorted and destemmed before being deposited in open tanks. There, it is left to macerate and ferment with native yeasts at a constant temperature of 32ºC and with three daily cap plunges. Finally, the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels, 22% of which are new. Finally, malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 4 months on lees. When the wine is ready, it is bottled without clarifying or filtering.

2015 Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir 2015 is a smooth red wine with aromas of red and black fruit on the nose, combined with spicy notes and touches of oak. On the palate it is juicy, flavoursome and deep. A mild acidity with flavours of red fruit, nuts and a saline touch on the finish.
