Maison Eddy Morey Beaune Blanc 2020

In the 1960s and 1970s, wine prices plummeted in Burgundy and many wine companies had to make a living by reducing resources, diversifying crops or even closing their winery. With 200 hectares of agricultural land, from Meursanges to Chalon, Eddy Morey’s grandparents were among those affected by the crisis and were forced to sell vineyards and become growers of fruit and vegetables, cereals and flowering plants. Fortunately, when young Eddy took over what was left of the winemaking estate, instead of continuing to sell until the estate disappeared completely, his passion for the vineyard encouraged him to continue the family winemaking legacy. Based in Nuits Saint Georges, he has not only managed to preserve the remaining vineyards, but has also grown the estate by improving his skills in the art of making and aging authentic wines at perfectly reasonable prices.

One of his most successful creations, Maison Eddy Morey Beaune Blanc, is a white wine made from the Chardonnay variety. These are traditionally cultivated old vines that are harvested at the optimum point of ripeness. In the winery, the meticulously selected grapes are gently pressed and the resulting must is fermented at a constant temperature. Finally, the wine ages on the lees, 50% in barrels, 20% of which are new, and 50% in stainless steel tanks.

With this wine, Maison Eddy Morey Beaune Blanc Eddy Mornos, Eddy Morey has introduced us to a new Burgundy. This white wine is classified as an AOC Beaune - Côte d'Or and has a wonderful aromatic expression and exceptional persistence at a very affordable price.
