About Les Trois Petiotes Le Petit Chaperon Rouge
Léa, Alys and Elsa. It was these three who gave Valérie Godelu the strength to leave her job as an executive in large companies and become an independent new generation winemaker. And they were the reason she wanted to have a more leisurely life closer to nature. After having Léa, her first daughter, she went back to the classroom to learn how to make wine. Two years later, when little Alys arrived, she swapped the hustle and bustle of the city and moved to Bordeaux with her family. Finally, in 2008, when her third daughter Elsa came along, she made her first wines on three small plots of land measuring one hectare each, which she looked after with the same love and patience as she had for her daughters. Hence the name of the project, Les Trois Petiotes (“the three little ones”).
One of her interesting wines is Les Trois Petiotes Le Petit Chaperon Rouge, a coupage of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from vines aged about 45 years old with very controlled yields (between 15 and 20 hectolitres per hectare) and planted on clay-gravel soils. The vines are cultivated using organic agriculture and no chemical products that could harm the environment. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness. Once the grapes reach the winery, they are carefully selected and fermented with native yeasts. Maceration is short, a maximum of 10 days, and finally, the wine is aged for 18 months in barrels and bottled unfiltered and unclarified.
With a name and label inspired by Charles Perrault’s famous fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood”, Les Trois Petiotes Le Petit Chaperon Rouge expresses itself with all the freshness and naturality of its birthplace. A Vin de France born in the heart of Côtes de Bourg, Bordeaux, with authentic crisp fruit.
