About K. Descombes Morgon Vieilles Vignes
For those who still harbor an outdated and underestimated perception of the splendid Beaujolais, we encourage you to sample the wonders crafted by K. Descombes. Nestled in the heart of Beaujolais, in Villié Morgon, this winery passionately cultivates the gamay grape, giving rise to natural wines that defy expectations. K. Descombes is renowned for its commitment to showcasing the unique complexity that the terroir of Beaujolais has to offer, and each bottle narrates the story of winemaking artistry in this region. All processes are artisanal, and the estate's wines, all of which are elegant, vibrant, and intricate, are crafted without additives, unclarified, and unfiltered. It is a transformative experience that shatters outdated perceptions of wine and unveils the true potential of Beaujolais.
Being acknowledged as one of the illustrious trailblazers of natural wine in Beaujolais, Kevin Descombes is celebrated for his K. Descombes Morgon Vieilles Vignes, a single-varietal wine made from the region's iconic gamay grape, cultivated from vines over 50 years old that require extensive artisanal care to capture the full complexity of the terroir. A mere 1.3-hectare vineyard recognized as one of the most intense and profound crus of Beaujolais, it is tended sustainably, ecologically, and by hand. In the winery, the grapes ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and thereafter, the wine is aged in multi-vintage barrels for at least 12 months.
Enshrined within the Morgon appellation, the K. Descombes Morgon Vieilles Vignes is notably dense for a Beaujolais. A succulent and fleshy wine that, by challenging stereotypes, reintroduces us to this exquisite French wine region that we invite you to explore.
