About Gramona Gra a Gra
Gramona Gra a Gra is a sweet wine produced by Gramona in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, D.O.Penedès.
Gramona was founded in 1881 in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. After more than 130 years of experience in producing cavas and wines, the fifth generation is currently in charge of the business, continuing with the family tradition and the philosophy they have applied in focusing their work on the winery over the years.
These past few years, Gramona has evolved in terms of the way it treats its vineyards, moving into organic agriculture and biodynamics, achieving the maximum balance of the vines with their surroundings, and in doing so infusing all its wines with character and uniqueness.
Gramona Gra a Gra is a wine made with Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay and Muscat grapes from Frontignan on the Las Solanes and Mas Escorpí estates.
The bunches are left to over-ripen in the vineyard, protecting the vines with veils so that the birds can’t eat these bunches. Once harvested at the desired point of ripeness, the grapes pass along the selection table in the winery, with the most dehydrated berries being chosen here. The must obtained is fermented in second year 300 liter French oak barrels, at about 18° C. Here it remains for 50 days with natural fermentation halted by its own sugars. After this time the wine is transferred into 6 liter bottles, which are corked and stored in a refuge cave just below the vineyard, where they will stand for the time needed to achieve the desired condition.
