About Ferraton Signature Condrieu Les Mandouls
The northern reaches of the Valle del Ródano are not solely the domain of red wines. There is indeed room for white wines as well! The majority of these, crafted from the viognier grape, are birthed in the A.O.C. Condrieu, a diminutive appellation that is gradually expanding both in size and esteem. If you are keen to explore and sample further, we present to you Ferraton Signature Condrieu Les Mandouls.
Perched on petite terraces, tiered along slopes and buttressed by low stone walls, lie the vineyards that give life to this wine produced by Ferraton Père & Fils. This winery, established in 1946 by Jean Orëns Ferraton, stands as a contemporary benchmark in the northern Valle del Ródano. Presently, after years of guidance, the enterprise is steered by Michel Chapoutier, the celebrated oenologist and family friend, who in 1998 began to shepherd the winery's journey with his consultancy. Indeed, without his influence, many of the vineyards of Ferraton Père & Fils would not be biodynamic, nor would the vines be cultivated with such meticulous care and environmental respect. Specifically, this region is noted for its granitic soils, laden with alluvial deposits on the surface, where the vines face south-southeast. Particular attention is required during the flowering period, when the viognier must be shielded from the cold northern winds or alternatively, the warm southern breezes that could hasten the grape's maturation. Nonetheless, as a general rule, this southeastern region of France is renowned for its temperate climate, with mild winters, hot summers, and consistent rainfall.
Ferraton Signature Condrieu Les Mandouls is cultivated and harvested by hand, with bunches transported directly to the winery's press. Through gentle pressing, the must of Ferraton Signature Condrieu Les Mandouls is extracted and subsequently transferred to stainless steel vats, where it will first undergo débourbage (for about 48 hours) and then ferment using indigenous yeasts. Finally, in those same stainless steel vats, 85% of Ferraton Signature Condrieu Les Mandouls will be left to rest, while the remaining 15% will mature in demi-muids.
So, do not hesitate any longer and embark on the discovery of new vinous horizons with Ferraton Signature Condrieu Les Mandouls.
