About Coma Calcari
Mas d'en Gil Coma Calcari is a white wine of Grenache produced by the Mas d'en Gil winery in Priorat.
The grapes come from a farm of 125 acres of which the vineyard occupies 45 hectares, sharing space with hazelnut trees, almond trees and Mediterranean forest.
The farm is planted 300 metres above sea level, with the typical terraces and licorella (slate soils) of the Priorat, which is as known in the area for slate, river rocks and quartzite.
The harvest is done manually at the optimum ripeness of each plot.
The grapes are transferred to the winery in small boxes of 20 kg, ensuring their optimal state. A selection of grapes is done in the vineyard.
Mas d'en Gil Coma Calcari is aged in French oak barrels of 500 and 1000 litres.
2015 | Coma Alta 2015 is a mature, powerful and honest white wine. In this vintage, the fine harmony between these two varieties can be seen, the white grenache providing structure and body, and the viognier added an extra touch of aroma and freshness. All this complemented with a suitable stay in the barrel. | |
2012 | The palate is broad, powerful and unctuous. Memories of white fruit. Pear with memories of slate and some balsamic. Long aftertaste. Bright straw yellow with some green hues. A fresh scent. Pineapple, lemon, fennel, smokiness and ripe white fruit. |
|
2007 | A powerful, greasy and very oily mouth. Very long and fresh. Pale yellow with greenish undertones. An intense, elegant aroma in wich pineapple and lemon stand out, combined with white fruit, combined with extremely subtle smoked notes. |
