The crossing of the Alps with elephants during the Second Punic War, under the command of the legendary Carthaginian general Hannibal, is one of the most iconic and audacious episodes in military history. These formidable animals not only had a profound psychological impact on their enemies but also played a strategic role on the battlefield, crushing and disorganising rival troops. Inspired by this historical figure, the winemaker Annibale and his family have created their own project on a 30-hectare estate in Salerno, Campania (Italy). The winery, Casa di Baal (the "House of Hannibal"), embodies the principles of self-sufficiency and sustainability, combining innovation and resilience. Hence, the elephant, a symbol of power and determination, adorns their wines, as a tribute both to their name and the history that inspires them.

Fusing traditional practices with novel ideas, Casa di Baal Il Tocco di Baal Colli di Salerno represents the character and vision of the winery. An ancestral sparkling wine made from aglianico grapes grown on the estate using organic and biodynamic treatments. In the winery, the must obtained from gently pressed grapes begins fermentation spontaneously and re-ferments in the bottle, without the addition of yeasts, sulphites, or sugars, and without filtering or disgorging; just as their ancestors did in the past.

With Casa di Baal Il Tocco di Baal Colli di Salerno, a pet-nat rosé, refreshing and lively, Annibale not only pays homage to his historical heritage but also redefines the present with an innovative and respectful vision of the past.
