Azienda Agricola Camparo Qui e Ora DOC Langhe Rosato

They belong to a relatively recent yet illustrious group of high-quality wines. Many members of this cohort, established in 1994, are often likened to the renowned Super Tuscans. We refer to the reds from the D.O.C. Langhe, an appellation conceived in 1994 to accommodate those Italian wines that did not fit into the more established Italian denominations. Today, nearly three decades later, the wines of the D.O.C. Langhe continue to be the subject of widespread acclaim... And not merely for their consumption, but also for the unexpected sophistication and distinction they offer. Among this group is the Azienda Agricola Camparo Qui e Ora DOC Langhe Rosato, a rosé made from Nebbiolo by Azienda Agrícola Camparo in Diano D’Alba, a village in the Piedmont region.

 

In this northern Italian locale, vineyards stretch across the hillsides at various elevations (here at 250 meters above sea level) and with a south-southeasterly exposure, atop clayey-siliceous soils and fossil marls. At least, this is the case for the estates of this winery, owned by the Drocco family, who have traditionally dedicated themselves to viticulture in this area. One need only trace back three generations to discover the origins of this enterprise that began by selling grapes and bulk wine, eventually evolving into one of the most esteemed wineries of the region. This current recognition is largely due to the foresight of Mauro, the founder's grandson, who constructed the winery and embraced a fully ecological approach to viticulture. Indeed, Azienda Agrícola Camparo was among the pioneers of this philosophy, grounding their practices in manual labor, the elimination of chemicals, and the use of ground cover crops.

 

It is with this philosophy that the Azienda Agricola Camparo Qui e Ora DOC Langhe Rosato has been crafted, undergoing fermentation in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures. This process, initiated by indigenous yeasts, is typically quite lengthy, lasting 15 days or more. In fact, these extended fermentations are characteristic of the winery. Upon completion, Azienda Agricola Camparo Qui e Ora DOC Langhe Rosato is transferred to 25 hL French oak barrels (second and third use) to ensure that the wood does not overshadow the inherent aromas and flavors of the grape variety.
