About Bouza Chardonnay
Being in the Top 50 best vineyards in the world is no easy task. But thanks to impeccable management and the support of a first-class team, the Bouza family project that began in 1999 in the Montevideo area (Uruguay) has been extremely successful. Led by Eduardo Boido, winemaker, chemical engineer, doctor and bachelor in chemistry, they make very limited production wines that faithfully express the characteristics of each vintage and each place the vineyards are planted. With the premise that “working on a small scale always brings better results”, the winery has become an ambassador where everything they make reveals the best kept secrets of Uruguayan winemaking.
Although the Tannat grape is the best known in the country, other grape varieties like Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are also cultivated. This is how Bouza Chardonnay was born, an unctuous Chardonnay from vineyards located in the metropolitan area of Uruguay. These vineyards are over 30 years old, planted in silty-clay soil with a high percentage of limestone and a yield of 42 hectolitres per hectare. Respectful agriculture is practiced with manual harvesting and selection and, once the grapes reach the winery, they are pressed directly without destemming. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and then the wine ages on its lees in French oak barrels for 9 months.
Considering that when the winery was built by its founders, Juan Bouza and his wife Elisa Trabal, they were inspired by the French chateau model, Bouza Chardonnay is a faithful reflection of French winemaking processes and quality but with the character of one of the best vineyards in the New World.

Bouza Chardonnay 2020 is a creamy white wine with aromas of white fruit, notes of tropical fruit and hints of vanilla. On the palate it is balanced, fresh and voluminous. A rich and flavoursome single-variety wine with marked acidity, an unctuous mid-palate and a persistent finish. |
