About Boekenhoutskloof The Wolftrap White Blend
Boekenhoutskloof The Wolftrap White Blend is a white coupage produced by the Boekenhoutskloof winery in the Swartland district of South Africa’s Coastal Region. This winery, located in the Franschhoek Valley, has its origins in the late eighteenth century, specifically in 1776 (when the first French and Dutch settlers began to arrive in the area). Today, after its purchase in 2009, the estate has been reestablished, becoming part of the group of producers and winemakers who have improved the reputation of this district, which for years had been ignored and overlooked, to the levels of prestige and recognition it enjoys today.
Boekenhoutskloof The Wolftrap White Blend is grown on the winery’s 100 hectares of organically cultivated land. The vines grow on well-drained Malmesbury Shale soils, with pockets of granite and water reserves. This will help the vine develop large roots to reach its nourishment in the area’s hot, dry climate. This results in lower yields, but with smaller and more concentrated fruit. Once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested and vinified in the winery. A cuvée of three varieties fermented at controlled temperatures and left on the lees for a few months before bottling.
The result is Boekenhoutskloof The Wolftrap White Blend, a cuvée of three wonderfully opulent varieties that offer freshness, intensity and fruitiness.
2020 | Boekenhoutskloof The Wolftrap White Blend 2020 is an aromatic white wine. The bouquet is intense and opulent, featuring fragrances of stone fruit such as peach, nectarine, yellow plum, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is refined and lively, presenting flavors of apple, melon, papaya, pear, and a zest of lime. Medium-bodied with harmoniously balanced acidity. The finish is invigorating. |
