The genesis of this drink can be traced back to the minds of Pierre Strydom and Stefan Coetzee, two friends who clearly foresaw that the future lies in non-alcoholic beverages. However, from their own experience, both realised that many of these concoctions lacked the proper flavour, with the disparity between them and their alcoholic counterparts being too noticeable. The solution lay in the ingredients and botanicals, which needed to be of the finest quality, and for this, the ideal location was the Cape Floral Kingdom region in the western part of South Africa. Yet, this is not the only requirement, as proper crafting is also essential. In the case of Abstinence Cape Floral, each ingredient and botanical is distilled in small batches through hydrodistillation. This process, which separates components based on their varying boiling points, yields the essential oils that will later be used in the production.
