Selvadolce Gumbe di Amirai 2021 boasts a captivating bright ruby-red hue with violet reflections. On the nose, it is distinguished by its rich array of aromas, where ripe red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry, and cherry prevail, complemented by delicate floral notes of violets and a spicy hint of dried herbs like thyme and rosemary. On the palate, it is juicy and fruity, with intense flavours of cherries, raspberries, and plum. Its fresh acidity and smooth tannic structure impart a balanced and elegant character.

About Selvadolce Gumbe di Amirai

Sometimes, life's paths lead us to unexpected destinations. This is the case of Aris Blancardi, a horse veterinarian who decided to pursue a passion that deeply connected him to the land. How did he transition from caring for horses to crafting natural wines on a biodynamic estate? It all began when he inherited the Selvadolce estate, a family property nestled in the hills of Bordighera, in Liguria (Italy), surrounded by ancient olive trees and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Although his background was in animal care, he soon realised that his true passion lay in a profound respect for nature and the desire to create something that not only reflected his surroundings but was also sustainable and healthy.

In 2004, he made a radical change in his life: he left his job to embark on a biodynamic farming project. He fell in love with the world of natural wine, convinced that this type of agriculture, which respects natural cycles without resorting to chemicals or pesticides, was the path to true quality and authenticity. The Selvadolce estate transformed from a family farm into a benchmark of biodynamic viticulture.

One of the most representative wines from Selvadolce is the Gumbe di Amirai, crafted from granazza, a variety cultivated using biodynamic practices. In the winery, the selected grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Afterwards, the wine remains for a minimum of 12 months in cement tanks and oak barrels. Finally, the wine is bottled without fining, filtering, or the addition of sulphites.

As a result, Selvadolce Gumbe di Amirai is a wine that reflects Aris's commitment to nature, the land, and patience. It is a testament to how a love for the natural and the pursuit of authenticity can lead us to discover new horizons.
