Murua Reserva 2017 exudes the quintessential character of Rioja Alavesa with a serene and enveloping elegance. On the nose, it opens with both power and delicacy: aromas of ripe fruit, cedar, and wild thyme intertwine with notes of wet limestone and rose petals, reminiscent of a walk through vineyards after the rain. On the palate, it is savoury, long, and velvety, with fine tannins and a gentle sweetness that caresses the palate. Its luscious and balanced texture renders it a fortified wine, one of those that leaves a lasting impression and begs to be shared leisurely.

About Murua Reserva

Murua Reserva is a wine from the D.O. La Rioja produced by Bodegas Murua. This wine is made using 3 different grape varieties: Tempranillo (93%), with small quantities of Graciano (5%) and Mazuelo (2%).

The grapes used to make this wine come from the winery´s own estate, which is divided accross eight different plots.

Once the harvest has been carried out, the grapes undergo controlled alcoholic fermentation followed by maceration. Then, after maloactic fermentation, the must is decanted into french oak vats.

The wine is then aged for 18months in French and American oak barrels that are a maximum of 3 years old. Finally, the wine is aged in the bottle for 18months in order to reach optimum quality.

Bodegas Murua is owned by the Masaveu family. Their heritage in winemaking dates back to Federico Masaveu Ripoll, who in the nineteenth century who built his own winery in Castellar del Vallés.A century later, in 1974, the Masaveu family expanded on this by buying Bodegas Murua in Elciego, a town forever linked to wine.

Murua Reserva 2016 unveils itself in an alluring cherry red hue with garnet glimmers. As one draws closer, an intense and vibrant bouquet unfurls, where sophistication emerges through scents of wild strawberries and cherries, framed by a delicate herbal undertone. Upon tasting, its entry on the palate is characterized by intensity and candor, offering a rich and satisfying texture. The progression is brisk and extended, with flavors that echo cherries and strawberries, complemented by a hint of thyme and the creaminess of fermented dairy, culminating in a wine that is well-balanced and harmonious.
2015 Murua Reserva 2015 is a red wine that reveals a powerful nose, where fruity aromas reminiscent of strawberries and plums appear accompanied by hints of chocolate, caramel and oak wood. The palate is well structured, with a pleasant volume. An intense and balanced, generous and long lasting red wine.
2013

Murua Reserva 2013 is a robust red wine brimming with aromas of wild red berries, hints of fine oak, and nuanced spices. The palate is expansive, velvety, and refined. This wine features sweet, polished tannins and a gentle acidity. The finish is delightful and protracted.

2007 Exhibiting delightful freshness, the profile is marked by a pronounced red fruit flavour. It possesses distinguished tannins and is exceptionally well-balanced, a quintessential representation of a Rioja.

The wine displays a medium garnet hue with a rim that shows brick-like tones.

Of medium intensity, it features ripe red fruits and sweet cocoa toastiness, complemented by chocolate and caramel notes. There are also balsamic hints of liquorice and sweet anise.
2004 A very elegant wine, with an intense attack and a meaty, very tasty and warm mid palate. Its notes of ripe fruit are released along with good toasted aromas and creamy spices. It shows ripe tannins, a good acidity and a long and lingering aftertaste.

Beautiful ruby â??â??red colour with maroon edges. Medium robe. A clean and bright wine with dense tears.

Once opened, elegant and powerful aromas of ripe berries, almost jam, are released along with balsamic notes and aromas provided by the wood: vanilla, toffee, chocolate, snuff,... They are all very balanced and harmonious.
2003 Soft and tasty superior wine. Creamy mid palate where the complexity provided during the ageing is noticed. Ripe tannins. Persistent.

Ruby red, with medium-high robe. Clean and bright.

The notes of red fruits and jam appear together with some vanilla and balsamic aromas. The hints of cocoa, coffee and snuff provided by the oak are also noticed.
2001 Soft and fleshy. Aftertaste remains persistently turning to toast and ripe flavors, typical of reserve wines.
