About Edouard Delaunay Bourgogne Chardonnay

The process of wine production is one where time is an impartial factor to consider throughout the year. Yet, in regions such as Bourgogne, September stands as the most critical month in terms of grape maturation. The climatic events of this month can drastically alter the final outcome of the wine, affecting both its quality and style. Aware of this, wineries such as Edouard Delaunay—an estate revived from obscurity by the fifth generation in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits—have even created a line of wines dedicated to this pivotal month.

Indeed, thanks to Laurent Delaunay, 125 years after its inception, Edouard Delaunay has been reinstated under family stewardship. Alongside his wife Catherine, they embarked on a significant renovation of the derelict building and the crafting of Burgundies that are true to the region's heritage. This Edouard Delaunay Bourgogne Chardonnay is a Bourgogne made from the chardonnay grape, sourced from various premier appellations or individual superior vineyards of grape producers handpicked by Laurent himself. The wine is then vinified in parts, using stainless steel tanks in conjunction with 228-litre French oak barrels, culminating in the final blend.

This approach yields the Edouard Delaunay Bourgogne Chardonnay, a strikingly complex cuvée that encapsulates the elegance and finesse characteristic of the great white wines from the AOC Bourgogne, offered at an irresistible price.

Edouard Delaunay Bourgogne Chardonnay 2020 is an aromatic white wine exuding citrus fragrances, hints of orange blossom, and nuances of white chocolate. On the palate, it is crisp, taut, and evokes sensations of melted butter and hazelnut.
