About Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Racines

Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Racines is a natural, ecological and biodynamic barrel-aged red wine made by Les Cailloux du Paradis in the Loire Valley (France) with red varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Côt.

Since the 1990s Claude Courtois and his son have dedicated themselves to ecologically cultivating 13 hectares of vines they found abandoned. Thanks to their work, there are now more than 40 varieties of grapes growing there together. This is how Les Cailloux du Paradis came into being, a family winery in the French town of Soings-en-Sologne that is known for its unconventional and 100% natural wines. 

Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Racines comes from some old strains planted in flint clay soil and cultivated with minimal intervention, without using chemicals and respecting the natural environment. These are vines that live alongside plants, animals and the forest and that maintain their natural balance through biodynamic treatments. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.

In the winery, the grapes selected to make Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Racines go through a long maceration and ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine then ages in barrels for 30 months. It is finally bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphur.

Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Racines is a natural red wine made by a pioneer in the production of sulphite-free wines. An easy to drink but very deep wine.
2015 Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Racines 2015 is a smooth red wine with aromas of fresh red berries and spicy notes. On the palate it is complex, juicy and very sweet. A wine that is very pleasant on the palate and full of character.
