Castell del Remei Alts del Castell 2025 is an expressive and fresh red wine, with aromas of blackberries and raspberries intertwined with sweet flowers, aromatic herbs, and delicate notes of liquorice and spices. On the palate, it is juicy and enveloping, with a pleasant sensation of freshness and a slightly saline touch that adds vibrancy to the whole. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, leaving a long finish where the fruit and balsamic notes meet naturally. A Garnacha with character and plenty of energy, perfect for accompanying a good meal without the need for grand ceremonies.

About Castell del Remei Alts del Castell

What does a winery with over a century of history do when it decides to produce its first single-varietal wine? At Castell del Remei, they have allowed a Garnacha planted in 1981 to speak for itself, in the highlands of an estate where wine has been part of the landscape for centuries. Amidst remnants of ancient settlements and traces from the Roman era, this historic property in La Noguera (Lleida, Spain) was also a pioneer in bringing the Bordeaux château model to Catalonia.
 
Today, under the direction of Tomàs Cusiné, the estate continues to look forward without losing sight of its roots. Castell del Remei Alts del Castell originates from a single five-hectare plot situated at 717 metres altitude, where the Garnacha grows on clay-limestone soils amidst rounded pebbles, with organic farming that respects the soil's life.
 
Castell del Remei Alts del Castell is an intense and profound red wine, yet also fresh and full of vigour. Part of the grapes undergo fermentation with stems, adding character and a distinctive energy to a Garnacha that combines ripe fruit, structure, and freshness. It possesses that kind of balance that surprises you when discovered for the first time: a wine with history, but with a very contemporary way of expressing itself.
 
There are fewer than 4,000 bottles, but there's no need to turn them into a museum piece. Finding a red like this, backed by a century-old winery, is like discovering a little gem that you want to bring to a fine table, share with friends, and then recount where you found it.
