About Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition 47

When he was young, Maurizio Zanella travelled to the AOC Champagne and discovered its sparkling wines. This curious young man thought, why not do the same in Italy, right on the two hectares of vineyards his mother, Annamaria Clemente Zanella, had purchased in Brescia, in the northern region of Lombardy. That is how Ca’ del Bosco was born, becoming one of the most prestigious wineries and one of the finest producers of sparkling wines in Italy. This date, now 30 years past, remains forever marked in the unique Italian winemaking calendar. Today, the winery honours this chapter with the dry sparkling wine Ca’ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition.

Throughout the years, Ca’ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition has become a great ambassador for the brand, representing not only good taste but also one of the pioneers of the new wave of Italian producers. It inaugurated a new method of production, with high-quality sparkling wines, elevating the prestige of the DOCG Franciacorta Millesimato. What started with Maurizio's mother has grown to the current 200 hectares, where cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, chardonnay, pinot blanc, and pinot noir are cultivated. It is with the latter three varieties that Ca’ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is crafted. All the grape bunches are hand-harvested from old vineyards, over 15 years old, ensuring their optimal condition at all times. Only the highest quality is possible for this special sparkling wine! It is worth noting that Ca’ del Bosco is a company that meticulously cares for every detail, so much so that before vinification, the grapes undergo a special washing system with three baths (what they call a berry spa), where microorganisms, dirt, and dust are removed. This special treatment ends in a drying tunnel prior to pressing (always in the absence of oxygen).

The must of Ca’ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is fermented in stainless-steel tanks, where it remains for seven months. Only in this way can the true character of this wine emerge, marked by sandy soils rich in silt, low in clay, and highly permeable (where stones once used as building materials are also found). Finally, after blending with the house's reserve wine (between 20%-30%), Ca’ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is left to rest for the second fermentation.

After 28 months in contact with the lees, Ca’ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is disgorged, ready to be tasted and to celebrate the impeccable trajectory of this house.

Ca’ del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is a creamy, dry sparkling wine (with less than 12 g/L of sugar). On the nose, it is complex, with aromas reminiscent of pastries, intermingled with very exotic fruity notes, featuring pineapple and fruit salad. On the palate, it is delicate and balanced, maintaining its fruity character. Long finish.
