About 200 Monges Selección Especial Reserva

200 Monges Selección Especial Reserva is an exquisite wine from La Rioja, crafted by Bodegas Vinícola Real in their quaint winery nestled in the town of Albelda de Iregua.

This is a single-varietal wine made from the Tempranillo grape, meticulously selected from the winery's finest vineyards. The vines, averaging around 50 years of age, yield exceptionally low quantities of fruit, which ensures the remarkable quality of the grapes.
The harvest is conducted entirely by hand, and the grapes are transported to the winery in diminutive 8 kg boxes, guaranteeing that the fruit remains in impeccable condition until it reaches the winery.

200 Monges Selección Especial Reserva undergoes fermentation in Allier oak vats for 10 days at a controlled temperature of 30°C. It is then aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months within a cellar hewn from rock, providing a constant temperature and humidity year-round. Following its barrel maturation, it concludes its aging process with roughly 20 months in the bottle before being released to the market.

200 Monges Selección Especial Reserva is a distinguished wine, the result of meticulous and careful craftsmanship. Perhaps one of the most refined wines from La Rioja. It is highly expressive and robust, with an extraordinary aging potential.
We recommend decanting the wine at least one hour before serving.

200 Monges Selección Especial Reserva envelops us in an embrace of rich and intense aromas and flavors. On the nose, it unfurls a spectrum of exceedingly ripe black fruits, with black cherry taking center stage, interwoven with hints of chocolate and fresh mint. On the palate, it is akin to a dance of espresso coffee, clove, and nutmeg converging in a robust and full-bodied profile. This mature and spicy red wine is a bold expression, perfect for those in pursuit of a tasting experience with character and depth.
2005 Powerful attack and intense mid palate. A red wine with a great, very pleasant and tasty complexity. Very well bodied wine with a nice texture. Marked notes of fruit with refined tannins. Excellent acidity and a long and persistent finish.

A dark cherry colour wine with a high robe. Elegant and dense tears.

High intensity and great complexity. Ripe black fruit with reduced aromas of bitter chocolate and spicy notes.
2004 Intense and powerful attack and mid palate. This wine shows great, very nice and tasty complexity and a silky, fleshy and full-bodied texture. Its marked notes of fruit are mixed with very creamy toasted and cocoa aromas. It has noble tannins and an excellent acidity. Very long and very persistent finish.

Intense dark cherry colour, with violet reflections and a high robe. Elegant and dense tears.

Wine with a high intensity and great aromatic complexity. Its expressive notes of ripe black fruit are released along with notes of reduction, bitter cocoa and spicy notes on an intense mineral background with lots of personality and hints of understory.
