Tasting notes Ruinart Brut

Champagne Brut. 36 months in bottle.

Ruinart Brut presents an encounter with elegance in every bubble. Its chestnut hue with golden reflections promises a sophisticated experience. On the nose, the initial sensations are of russet apple, apricot, fresh almonds, and hazelnuts. These are joined by delicate floral notes of elderflower and a spicy hint of coriander, which then evolve into intense aromas of brioche and biscuit. On the palate, this champagne envelops with sweet flavours of golden fruit and plum tarts, highlighting a seductive roundness. The final freshness of the chardonnay completes a vibrant experience. Its complexity and persistence make Ruinart Brut an ideal choice for those seeking sophistication and joy in every glass.

About Ruinart Brut

Some significant enterprises are born out of chance. This is the case with Ruinart, one of the legendary maisons in Reims which, although today it is the oldest house in the Champagne region, actually began in the textile industry. It all started when King Louis XV in 1728 allowed wine to be traded in bottles (previously it could only be done in barrels, making its transport difficult). It was then that Nicolas Ruinart, a textile merchant and nephew of Dom Thierry Ruinart (a Benedictine monk with a passion for "sparkling wine") saw an opportunity to gift his clients with a bottle of the sparkling wine his uncle had taught him to make. A wine that, surprisingly, was so well-received that the Ruinart family eventually abandoned the fabric business entirely to devote themselves fully to champagne.

Their champagne Ruinart Brut is the only one of their sparkling wines that incorporates the pinot meunier grape in its blend, along with pinot noir and chardonnay. Vineyards are worked by plot and harvested by hand at their optimal ripeness. During vinification in the winery, it is evidently done using the méthode champenoise. First, a base wine is created with the three varieties, followed by a blending with wines from two previous vintages for a second fermentation in the bottle. Finally, it remains in the cellar for 3 years before disgorgement and dosage.

Thus, with an iconic house bottle and a sparkling wine with the true expression of the "Ruinart flavour", Ruinart Brut presents itself as a faithful representative of the AOC Champagne in its freshest, most versatile, and, of course, glamorous version.
