About Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier

Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier is a white wine produced by the Percheron winery in the Western Cape designation of origin in South Africa, made from Chenin Blanc and Viognier varieties.
 
Percheron is a winery whose name pays tribute to a type of draft horse that originated in the Huisne Valley, in the province of Perche (France), which was originally employed to work the vineyard. This equestrian breed, just like the ancient twisted vines that adorn the estate of this Western Cape South Coast wine-making project, are rare gems that are hard to come across.
 
Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier is derived from various vineyards found in hidden corners of the Cape. Chenin vines have an average age of 30 years, while the Viognier variety lives up to 15 years on average. The soil is rich in lime on the higher ground and features sandy loam on the slopes. The vineyards are not irrigated and vine yields are low. The entire harvest is carried out by hand. 
 
In the winery, the very best Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier grapes are selected and gently pressed. The must obtained is fermented with native yeasts and kept on its own lees. Finally, the wine is filtered and clarified before being bottled.
 
Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier is a coupage of old Chenin and young Viognier. A lively, crisp blend of delicious Western Cape white wine.

2020 Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier 2020 is an aromatic white wine exuding exquisite scents of stone fruit and hints of white blossoms. On the palate, it is effervescent, opulent, and invigorating. This wine displays a luminous acidity, a delectable mouthfeel, and a mineral-laced finish.
