About Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc

Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a white wine coupage of the Roussanne and Clairette varieties, produced by the Le Vieux Donjon winery, in the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the Rhone Valley, France.

Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is made with a coupage of equal amounts of both varieties, vinified in stainless steel tanks with no malolactic fermentation. The resulting wine also ages in stainless steel tanks for a short time.

Le Vieux Donjon is made up of 18 hectares of vineyards, only one of which is used to make Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc. The oldest vines are more than eighty years old and are planted in vineyards with pebble soils. These plots with old vines and low yields provide the raw material, full of concentrated aromas and flavours, that is perfect for making exceptional wines.

In the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, white wines only account for 10% of production. Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a great way to experience the denomination’s minority whites.

Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2020 is an exceptionally expressive and refined white wine. The bouquet unveils an intricate amalgamation of lemon zest, peach, mirabelle plum, honeysuckle, quinine, and acacia. On the palate, it is flavorful and savory, brimming with notes of white blossoms and orchard fruits. The finish is extensive and lingering.
2017 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2017 is a white wine with a very aromatic nose and notes reminiscent of acacia flowers and grapefruits. On the palate it is fresh with nuances of citrus and exotic fruits. This is a wine with great aging potential.
