About Josep Grau Vespres Blanc

The sunsets in Montsant (Catalonia) are not merely the end of the day. They are a choreography of light and silence that transforms the mountain into a sanctuary of tranquillity. The limestone cliffs are bathed in gold and pink hues, the horizon of Priorat merges with the sky, and everything comes to a standstill. It is easy to imagine that it was during one of these moments that Josep Grau decided to change the course of his life.

A former broker in Barcelona, one day life brought him to a halt. Instead of resisting, he listened. He returned to the countryside, to the land that had made him feel whole as a child, and found in Montsant a place to build something genuine. Thus, Josep Grau Viticultor was born, a family project in Marçà, within the DO Montsant, where the vineyard is cultivated by hand, without herbicides or pesticides, and where each wine tells the story of the landscape, the vintage, and the effort.

One of his most personal wines is Vespres Blanc, made entirely from garnacha blanca from a 25-year-old vineyard in the village of Solivella, on limestone and decomposed granite soils. Aged for 7 months in concrete eggs, this wine is neither corrected nor disguised: it is as it comes, with freshness, structure, and a balance that reflects the serenity of the sunset that inspires it.

Because sometimes, to find one's direction, all it takes is to pause and watch the sun set over the vineyards.
 

2024 Josep Grau Vespres Blanc 2024 provides a captivating experience with its delicate aromas reminiscent of fresh apples and pears, accompanied by gentle citrus notes of lemon and white flowers such as jasmine. On the palate, this white wine is fresh and vibrant, with a creamy texture and a subtle mineral touch that adds a pleasant complexity.
