About De Muller Lo Cabaló

De Muller Lo Cabaló is a red wine made by De Muller with the Syrah, Merlot, Garnacha Tinta and Cariñena varieties in the D.O. Q. Priorat.

The De Muller winery was founded in 1852 by a family of Alsatian winemakers who introduced the country to many new winemaking innovations, both commercially and technologically. The winery is currently located on the Mas de Valls Estate (Reus). They also have vineyards in the village of El Molar (Priorat), which is where this wine comes from.

De Muller Lo Cabaló comes from vineyards located high in the Priorat mountains. These grapes come from the Lo Cabaló plots in Priorat, lying on a mountainside and planted in slate soils. The strains are grown on trellises with medium pruning. When the grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is harvested manually.

The best grapes from the most exclusive plots are selected in the winery to make De Muller Lo Cabaló. The grapes are carefully macerated and fermented at a controlled temperature of around 25-28ºC in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages in new French oak barrels for 15 months. Once bottled, it rests there for 12 months before being sold.

De Muller Lo Cabaló is a beautifully elegant reserva red wine with a great aging potential. A wine for saving.

De Muller Lo Cabaló 2016 is a red wine boasting a ruby hue with brick-coloured highlights. Olfactorily, it is exceedingly complex, presenting a bouquet of dried fruit, sweet spices, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, and roasted nuances. On the palate, it is profoundly intense, with ripe black fruit melding seamlessly with vanilla and toasted accents. It concludes with a mineral and lingering finish.
