About Condado de Haza Reserva

Condado de Haza Reserve is a single-variety Tempranillo red wine made by the Condado de Haza winery belonging to the Familia Fernández Rivera group in the DO Ribera del Duero in Castilla y León, Spain.

The bunches used to make the Condado de Haza Reserva wine come from plots lying at an altitude of 811 metres with predominantly loamy-sandy soils. The strains are around 25 years old. The area has a mostly dry and windy continental-Atlantic climate where winters are long and cold, and summers are short, dry and hot.

The grapes are traditionally vinified and the resulting wine is aged in American oak barrels for around 24 months. After aging in barrels, the wine is bottled unfiltered and rests for another 12 months in the winery where it finishes refining before being released for sale.

Condado de Haza Reserva comes from a family with great winemaking history, the Fernández Rivera family, who have produced some of the best-known wines from the Ribera del Duero like the famous Tinto Pesquera. Condado de Haza Reserva offers an intense and meaty, elegant and persistent wine

Condado de Haza Reserva 2019 is a wine that opens with character: intense aromas of ripe blackberries and plums intertwine with a backdrop of sweet spices, balsamic notes, and a subtle milky echo that caresses the senses. On the palate, it reveals strength and structure, with firm and well-integrated tannins, enveloped in a creamy texture. The ageing in French oak imparts nuances of cocoa, toasted notes, and smoke, reminiscent of extinguished embers on an autumn afternoon. Persistent, complex, and refined, it is a red wine that masterfully combines power and elegance.
2016 Condado de Haza Reserva 2016 is a red wine that offers aromas of ripe fruits accompanied by a note of liquorice and spicy nuances from its aging in American oak. On the palate, it starts off sweet, reaffirming the fruit accompanied by a rounded tannin that gives it good volume. A red wine with very well integrated acidity and good persistence on the palate.
2007 Nice, broad attack and velvety on the palate. Polished tannins and a very good acidity. Long and very persistent.

Pretty ruby red colour with light terracotta reflections. Clean and bright. Fine tears show on the glass.

Clean and very fragrant nose, medium-high intensity. Toasted, smoky notes from its ageing appear at first which gradually give way to aromas of ripe black fruit and spices.
2006 Good, broad and pleasing attack. Velvety on the palate, with polished tannins and a good acidity. Long and very persistent.

Ruby red colour with a terracotta rim. Clean and bright, high concentration of glycerine.

Clean, medium-intensity nose. Aromas from its ageing stand out, toasted, smoky and roasted notes, which gradually give way to ripe black fruit along with nice spices.
