There are plots that, for years, seem to patiently await their moment. Plots that possess everything: history, elevation, orientation, soul. All they need is for someone to listen. That is precisely what Riecine did with Vigna Gittori.

For years, this estate was tended with respect and care, like a borrowed garden lovingly watered. But in 2019, the turning point arrived when Riecine became the proprietor of Gittori. It was no longer just a friendly vineyard, but part of the family. And as with anything one cherishes, the desire to go further emerged. What if this land deserved its own wine? What if something special enough to become a Gran Selezione was born here?

That year, the harvest confirmed it. It was perfect. Thus, Riecine Vigna Gittori Gran Selezione Chianti Classico was born. Everything begins with a meticulous selection of grapes, both in the vineyard and in the winery. Only the finest sangiovese berries make the cut before being destemmed and transferred to the distinctive cement tanks, where they ferment serenely. The maceration extends over 25 days, seeking depth without discordance. Afterwards, the wine is moved to 500-litre barrels with more than four years of use—because here, the wood does not dominate, it complements. There it rests for 24 months, refining its structure and character. Finally, it is bottled and rests for an additional six months in the winery before being released to the world.
