Tasting notes L'Hòstia Ratafia 1L

Liqueurs (1 Liter).

L’Hòstia Ratafia is a sophisticated liqueur boasting a bouquet of various herbs, fruits, spices, and a hint of nuts. On the palate, it is expansive, with a pleasant volume and the warmth imparted by its alcohol content, balanced by a sweetness that harmonises with the bitterness of some of its ingredients. A liqueur with a long and persistent finish, featuring a herbal and slightly spiced aftertaste. Intense and surprising. Perfect to be enjoyed very chilled, as an aperitif or digestif, as an evening drink, or as a component in cocktails and other mixed drinks.

About L'Hòstia Ratafia

Although originally the word hostia has a strictly religious connotation (referring to the consecrated wafer during mass), in Spain the term hostia can take on various meanings.

According to the RAE (Royal Spanish Academy), hostia can also be used to refer to a 'blow or slap' (for example, "me dio una hostia" – "he gave me a slap"); having mala hostia implies having a 'bad temper or bad intentions'; going a toda hostia means 'at full speed' (in the sense of "rushing"); ¡la hostia! is used to express that something is 'the ultimate' (for example, "¡es la hostia de grande!" – "it's incredibly big!"); and you can also use hostia to express surprise or anger, or even to say that something or someone is amazing: ¡Eres la hostia! (meaning, "You're awesome!").

With this play on words, the controversy is more than served (literally), and the twins Alex and Albert Virgili have done it again!
From the creators of “Xitxarel·lo”, “El Cabronet”, “El Bandarra” and “La Sueca” comes L’Hòstia Ratafia, and, quite literally, it is “packing a punch”.

Ratafia is a traditional Catalan herbal liqueur made by macerating various herbs and fruits, especially green walnuts, in brandy. To this classic recipe, the Virgili brothers have decided to give a “hardcore twist” with L’Hòstia Ratafia, a liqueur that, in addition to green walnut, includes more than 20 natural extracts (rosemary, orange, cinnamon, sage, dry anise, and fennel), which macerate for four months, are aged, and sweetened with sugar. Its alcohol content is higher than that of conventional ratafia, which justifies its name: it's “a good hostia” (a good punch).

L’Hòstia Ratafia is a drink that dares to challenge a very popular “German gentleman” at night parties and discos. Although it is aimed at daring night owls, L’Hòstia Ratafia is also perfect for bold after-dinner moments. It is recommended to be served “at freezer temperature,” very cold.

Like all the Virgili brothers' products, L’Hòstia Ratafia is born revolutionising the market and generating controversy with its striking presentation and marketing that plays on the religious double entendre of its name. However, don't be swayed by its appearance alone: the first sip will not leave you indifferent, because L’Hòstia Ratafia ¡is “the hostia”!
