About Jean-Pierre Moueix Bordeaux

Moueix Bordeaux is a barrel-aged red wine made by Jean-Pierre Moueix with the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties in Bordeaux (France).

Jean-Pierre Moueix, a renowned salesman specialising in the best red wines from the sub-regions on the right bank of the Dordogne River (France), decided to make his own wines in the 50s. His great knowledge about winemaking in the area meant he was able to produce high quality wines, and it wasn’t long before he became known all around the world.

In the vineyard, the Moueix Bordeaux grapes are meticulously cared for at all times, and respecting the strain’s natural rhythm. Traditional agriculture is practiced and the yield is limited to maintain the quality of the grapes. Planted in sandy, gravel and clay soil, the oldest strains are prudently replaced to keep the average vine age high. When the grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is harvested by hand.

In the winery, only the best Moueix Bordeaux grapes are vinified. Inspired by the classic Bordeaux, the grapes macerate first and then ferment at a controlled temperature. Then the resulting wine ages in French oak barrels for 12 months.

Moueix Bordeaux is an elegant Bordeaux style coupage where the Merlot grape offers depth and the Cabernet Franc brings structure.
2016 Moueix Bordeaux 2016 is a concentrated red wine with complex aromas of ripe red fruit and light notes of blonde tobacco. On the palate it is powerful, silky and warm. A well structured wine, with soft tannins and a long and elegant finish.
