About Majas Blanc

Majas Blanc is an organic white wine made in the VDP Côtes Catalanes by the Majas winery with the Macabeo, Rolle (Vermentino) and Cariñena blanca varieties.

Domaine Majas is the winery created by Alain Carrère and his wife Agnès in 1992 in the Fenouillèdes Valley (Roussillon). The early days of their winemaking journey mostly involved producing low-cost wines for supermarket chains, however following the crisis, they sought help from the prestigious winemaker Tom Lubbe to improve the quality of their wines. Currently, the winery has 30 hectares of vineyards, all of which are organic. Vinification happens spontaneously with native yeasts, using very little sulphur dioxide in order to reflect the authentic terroir of the area.

Majas Blanc comes from vineyards with the Ecocert ecological certificate. 35-year-old strains planted in clay and limestone soils with a low yield of 38 hectolitres per hectare. Once the grapes reach their optimum ripeness, they are harvested manually.

In the winery, the grapes are pressed and they undergo spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is made without wood and aging takes place on fine lees in stainless steel tanks.

Majas Blanc is a young white wine that shows the freshness and minerality that the terroirs of the Fenouillèdes valley offer.
2017 Majas Blanc 2017 is an aromatic white wine with floral and fruity notes of peach and citrus. On the palate it is fresh and mineral with a fine and elegant mid-palate.
