About La Suerte de Arrayán

La Suerte de Arrayán is a red wine from the D.O Méntrida region produced by the Arrayán winery. This wine is made using only Grenache grapes.

Situated in El Real de San Vincente, at 720 metres above sea level, the vineyard is home to 60 year old vines and granite and sandy soils. The local climate is characterised by the large variations between the extremely cold winters and very hot summers, which is ideal for growing grapes and the production of this type of wine.

The harvest is carried out both manually and mechanically. The grapes are then transported to the winery`s facilites in small 20kg capacity boxes, which helps avoid the grapes breaking and prematurely fermenting.

The grapes are not destemmed and kept whole during production. The first phases of production takes place in stainless steel tanks. The grapes undergo cold macerated for 2 days before fermentation, which takes place at low temperatures for around 25 days. Finally, La Suerte de Arrayán is moved to 300l. capacity French oak barrels where it ages for 12 months.

The Arrayán winery is home to plots that span over 26 hectares, situated between 470-510 metres above sea level. It is these plots that are used to make there wines, which are consistently well received by critics.

 

2017 Arrayán La Suerte 2017 is a succulent red wine that on the nose delivers a bouquet of fruity aromas reminiscent of cherries, complemented by floral undertones, mineral hints, and subtle balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is approachable yet well-structured and sophisticated. A red wine with polished tannins, delectable and eminently quaffable.
2015 La Suerte de Arrayán is a red wine with a strongly scented nose of floral aromas and fresh red fruits. On the palate it is delicate and deep. A wine with balanced acidity and fruit, very well integrated wood and a long and fresh aftertaste.
2013 Well-structured, featuring polished tannins. Vibrant and lingering. Approachable, well-rounded with a robust character.

Medium-bodied cherry red.

Aromas of wildflowers, cherries, and strawberries. Delightful undertones with hints of spice.
