About Granbazán Etiqueta Ambar

When we talk about Albariño, we talk about Granbazán. The family project initiated by the noble Manuel Otero y Otero in 1965 when he purchased an estate in Cambados (Rías Baixas), which was later brought to fruition by his son Manuel Otero Candeiro under the name Agro de Bazán. Since its inception, this winery has strived to highlight the region's quintessential native grape variety and, sparing no resources, has become a benchmark for neighbouring wine-producing companies. This is beautifully reinforced by the construction of a neocolonial-style building reminiscent of Galician Indian houses, from which unique single-varietal wines emerge, now reaching over 25 countries worldwide.

A testament to this international recognition is Granbazán Etiqueta Ambar. An Albariño born from the selection of the finest clusters from a vineyard approximately 30 years old, located in Vilanova de Arousa, in the heart of the Salnés Valley, on granitic soils. The vines are trellised on pergolas, about two metres above the ground, to maximise exposure to the wind and minimise humidity. After a hand harvest, the grapes are selected, destemmed, and cold macerated in the winery for 6 to 8 hours. Only free-run juice is used, and fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 15 and 17 °C. Finally, the wine matures in contact with fine lees for eight months, with routine rackings.
