About Gemma Miró La Partió

Not everyone is equipped to endure the capriciousness of the weather or the unpredictability of the countryside. However, when the fruits arrive, the satisfaction is so immense that it justifies starting anew each year. For Gemma Miró, the learning began at home. Her grandfather, Jordi Escoda, was her greatest teacher. No one better than him to teach her with patience, love, and respect for the land. He did it so well that, while modernity drives rural depopulation, Gemma decided to stay. Thus, as a biologist and viticulturist, she creates her own oenological project inspired by her family history. To this end, she revives the Pinyanes estate, a vineyard her grandfather tended for decades, restoring it with the life and care it deserves.

La Partió is a wine that speaks of territory, tradition, and familial bonds. Originating from vines over 40 years old, it champions the value of staying, of continuing to do what was done before but with a renewed perspective. The name derives from the vineyard's location, situated between Falset, Marçà, and Bellmunt del Priorat, on the border between municipalities. Although it is officially called "the boundary," her grandfather always referred to it as "la partió." From there, this first wine of the house takes its name.

La Partió is a wine originating from cariñena vines planted on mixed soils of sauló, clay, and licorella. Its production maintains an artisanal spirit. Half is vinified using semi-carbonic maceration with whole grapes and stems, and the other half with whole, destemmed grapes. After a week-long skin maceration, the wine is aged in cement tanks for 7 months.

The result is La Partió, a minimally interventionist wine that seeks to extract the utmost expression from this unique vineyard. It is, above all, a tribute to the past and a resolute step towards the future: the legacy of a grandfather that continues today in the hands of his granddaughter.
