About E. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Blanc

E. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Blanc is a white wine made mainly with Marsanne and with a little Roussanne. It is rated as a wine from the AOC Crôzes Hermitage and is produced by Domaine E. Guidal.

Domaine E. Guigal is one of the most famous wineries in the Rhone Valley. It was founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal. It is currently run by Philippe Guigal, third generation of the family and Domaine’s oenologist. It cultivates vineyards in several sub-denominations of the Rhone Valley, both northern (Saint-Joseph, Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, Crozes-Hermitage) and southern (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel, Côtes-du-Rhône). It has also produced its own barrels since 2003.

The vineyards for M. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Blanc have an average age of 25 years. The soils of the various plots are silty, with sands and gravels. The average yield per hectare is 37 hectoliters. It is fermented at a controlled temperature of around 18 ºC and part of the final wine is aged on lees for 12 months in French oak barrels.

2016 E. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Blanc 2016 is a wine with aromas of white flowers, stone fruit and peach, together with mineral touches. On the palate it is structured, slightly salty, rounded, tasty and balsamed by a remarkable freshness.
