About Château Beausejour Cuvée Prestige

To find a château managed by the same family for 5 generations is quite an unusual, but even more so if the latest three generations have seen women in charge. The truth is that, for many centuries, wine production and selling were traditionally considered men’s work, and women had a more limited role in this industry. However, over the years, this has gradually changed. In recent decades, there has been a significant shift in the wine industry, and women have begun to challenge gender barriers and move into more diverse roles within the wine world. At Château Beausejour, three generations have been led by women. The current leader, Véronique Melet, follows a quality-focussed approach like her predecessors.

This winery lies to the northwest of the Dordogne river bank, near Fronsac, in Bordeaux (France), where the vineyards are located in the village of Saillans. This is the origin of Château Beausejour Cuvée Prestige, a cuvée made of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc whose vines planted on clay-limestone soil with a ferrous base bring a lot of complexity to the fruit. They use traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. Then in the winery there is a thorough selection of the best grapes, which then begin a temperature-controlled fermentation for approximately 20 days. Finally, the wine is aged in barrels for 12 to 18 months, depending on the vintage, before bottling.

As the name suggests, Château Beausejour Cuvée Prestige is a prestigious cuvée produced by a pioneering winery when it comes to their commitment to women. A powerful wine full of nuances that demonstrates the Fronsac character from a very feminine point of view.
