Ultreia Godello is a barrel-aged white wine made by Raúl Pérez in Bierzo (Castilla y León) with the Godello variety.

Raúl Pérez, one of the most recognised Spanish winemakers and winegrowers around the world, runs various projects in different wine regions. Pérez is not attached to any specific soil, instead preferring to search for the terroirs that offer identity and quality.

A Bierzo native, he knows this wine region better than anybody and many of his best wines come from here. Ultreia Godello is one of those. This wine comes from vines aged over 20 years old located in the towns of Valtuille de Abajo and Cacabelos. These vines are planted in clay soils and cultivated in an environmentally friendly way.

In the winery, the Ultreia Godello grapes are meticulously selected and gently pressed. The resulting must then goes on to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and without temperature control in foudres for 12 months.

With a higher concentration of wood than other whites, Ultreia Godello is a most surprising signature wine. A fragrant and enveloping 100% Godello wine.

His name is known by a lot of good enthusiasts, and some of his wines are on the agenda of Robert Parker. However, his labels are produced in very small quantities, which makes his wine quite hard to find. He makes his own wines, wines for others and in collaboration with other people. He participates in family projects and other formal and informal ones. He breaks the rules, reaching the limits. He sometimes crosses the line and even crosses borders ... Bierzo wine is on the rise. It is a region defined by its small scale work, with plots scattered around, very old vines, artisan work of the small scale wineries, and the character of their principal variety, the Mencía grape, which produces fresh, fruity and delicious wines. Although the region is well known mostly for its red wines, it also produces white and rosé wines. If the red wines here are defined by the Mencía variety, then the white wines here are defined by the Godello. Godello grape has great aromatic potential, as well as an excellent balance between alcohol and acidity.  Despite the great potential of El Bierzo, its rise in the wine world would not have been possible without two people: Raúl Pérez and Ricardo Pérez. Two great winemakers who in little time have been able to produce critically acclaimed wines from the Bierzo region.
