Supernova Crianza is a wood-aged red wine made by Bodegas Briego with the Tempranillo variety in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, in Castilla y León (Spain).
Bodegas Briego is run by three brothers who, in the 90s, decided to transform the family farm into a winery. They have a total of 77 hectares of varied soils in the towns of Curiel, Peñafiel and Fompedraza with top quality vines that have been planted to produce wines with authentic Ribera del Duero character.
Supernova Crianza comes from vines growing at an altitude ranging from 700 to 900 metres above sea level. These vines were planted in 1988 in limestone and sandy loam soils and are traditionally cultivated. The harvest is carried out at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Supernova Crianza grapes are destemmed and crushed to ferment and macerate in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in French and American oak barrels for 14 months.
Made in a very Burgundy style, Supernova Crianza the result of a dream come true for three brothers who have created this excellent wine for those who love the Ribera style.
